“Therefore, we are moving on to the stage of creating additional capacities at the rate of 80,000 vehicles per year in two-shift operation,” Parkhomchik emphasized on the air of the ONT TV channel.
Production growth
The Deputy Prime Minister also said that about 30,000 Geely cars were produced in Belarus in 2022. This amount, he said, was enough for the domestic market. This year, the task was set to produce twice as much, namely 60,000 cars.
As Parkhomchik stressed, it will be "unconditionally implemented." So, to date, 40,000 cars have already been produced and sold, he added.
The Deputy Prime Minister also said that issues of deep localization are currently being discussed, including the internal combustion engine.
New car for the market
"I'll tell you a secret: we have an agreement with one of the Chinese companies, which has already delivered two crossovers for certification, they will not overlap with Geely products," Parkhomchik said.
He explained that these crossovers will be more expensive and business class. In the near future - August-September - they will be certified, and from September the delivery of machine kits for their production will begin.
As Parkhomchik explained, the assembly of these cars will be carried out at the Unison enterprise.
What kind of car could this be?
Earlier, First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Nikolai Snopkov said that agreements had been reached with Chinese partners on expanding cooperation in the automotive industry. In particular, we are talking about the development of Geely localization, as well as the production of electric vehicles.
Also, according to him, a contract was signed with one of the Chinese automakers to assemble cars. He said that the Belarusian delegation had already been able to evaluate the quality of these cars during the visit of the Belarusian leader to China.
Recall that the Hongqi L series limousine of the Chinese company FAV Group was provided by the Chinese side for use in the motorcade of the Belarusian president during his state visit to China. At the same time, Alexander Lukashenko held talks with the leadership of this company.
